1. AFP & CC Scholarship:
This scholarship is funded by the American Federation of Police and Concerned Citizens (AFP & CC). Students eligible for this application must be incoming or current college students whose parent(s) was a law enforcement officer killed in the line of duty. The scholarship is worth $1,000, and it is given annually for up to four years. There is no deadline for the application.
2. Life Lessons Scholarship:
Life Happens established the Life Lessons Scholarship, which is available to high school and college students who have lost their parents. To be eligible, one has you be between the ages of 17-24, must be a legal resident of the United States or Puerto Rico, and they are expected to attend college, trade school, or university in the US or Puerto Rico in the upcoming fall semester. The Life Happens Establishment, over the years, has spent more than $2.8 million helping students with deceased parents or guardians and whose families lacked excellent life insurance.
3. MaryEllen Locher Scholarship:
The MaryEllen Scholarship Foundation helps students whose parent died from breast cancer, survived breast cancer, or is still being treated for breast cancer. Students who would like to apply must submit three letters and a letter of recommendation. They would also be required to submit an official transcript and a death certificate of the deceased parent or clinical diagnosis. The scholarship is specifically for students whose families are within 50 miles of Chattanooga, Tennessee, and both. It is open to both high school seniors and current college students.
4. Dependent Student Scholarship Program:
This program provides financial support to students whose parent was a Tennessee law enforcement officer, fireman, or emergency medical service technician and was killed or permanently disabled during their duty. Eligible applicants must have completed a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) & possess a valid EFC (Expected Family Contribution). The deadline is July 2023.
5. Children of Fallen Heroes Scholarship:
This scholarship program was founded and funded to assist students whose parents or guardians died during their duties while serving as public safety officers. These grants are gifted to both part-time and full-time students who are undergraduates and have not earned a bachelor’s or professional degree. Eligible students must be less than 24 years and are expected to submit the FAFSA form.
6. American Police Hall of Fame Scholarship:
The American Police Hall of Fame funds this scholarship, which is available to graduating high school seniors and college students. The Children’s Defense Fund of New York (CDF-NY) honors outstanding young scholars who are surviving tremendous adversity, demonstrating academic success, and giving back to society. The sponsor selects deserving high school students from the New York City metropolitan area each year for admission into the CDF-NY Beat the Odds Program. Eligible applicants should have a minimum GPA of 3.0.
11. Mississippi Law Enforcement Officers & Firemen Scholarship:
Mississippi State of Financial Aid sponsors this program. The eligible applicant must be a dependent child under 23 of any Mississippi law enforcement officer, full-time fighter, or volunteer fighter who suffered fatal injuries or lost their life while carrying out their duties. The students should be enrolled full-time at the undergraduate level at any state college or university. The scholarship is worth about $40 million every year.
12. The Pink Rose Foundation Scholarship:
This scholarship is almost the same as Mary Ellen Locher’s abovementioned scholarship (number 8). Pink Rose also helps students who have lost their parents or guardians to breast cancer. Eligible applicants must provide an acceptance letter to the college or certificate program, a copy of their parent’s death certificate, and a completed scholarship application. 15. Breathing For Tomorrow Lung Cancer Scholarship:
