Once you have seen any of the above mentioned, then know that you have spotted the signs you should be a model and this unique look of yours will be what will set you apart from other models in your industry.

But for that to happen, you need to signup with a nice model management company such as Modelscout that will place you in front of the right modeling agency and also guide you through your modeling career. This company is great especially for beginner models with no experience, and also for professional models

2. You have the height of a model

Another way to spot the signs you should be a model is when you have the height of a model which is also one of the physical qualities of a model.

As long as the features that are necessary for a person who wants to become a model, height is probably the most required physical attribute to be a successful model.

The general minimum height for anyone looking to join modeling is 5’7’’. And runway models are expected to be at least 5’8” as a female model and 6’0” as a male model.

However, this is not usually the rule of thumb, as there are exceptions just in the cases of models like Kate Moss, for example.

Having a nice height is a good place to start in order to determine the signs you should be a model. Long limbs and long legs are also some of the things agencies are looking for in a model.

If you are intending to be an editorial model, then having the right look is more required than height alone.

3. You have the body shape and size

One of the signs you should be a model is when you have the body shape and size of a model which are the physical qualities of model brands are looking for.

What most modeling agencies are looking for is your bust size. If you are a female model a small bust size of around 33 definitely helps. If you are a male model the measurement are chest size of 38 to 40 because it will help you look better in designers’ clothing and most designers tailor their clothing around these measurements.

Modeling agencies also love strong and broad shoulders, it makes you look very confident as a model while walking on a runway.

Having a flat stomach as a female model and having defined abs as a male model is also another feature most modeling agencies are looking for and these are easily seen in thin people with a low-fat percentage.

However, you should know that getting into modeling doesn’t just mean being slim and tall with perfect body size. It means identifying your own strengths and playing with them to get the type of work that’s right for you.

As a matter of fact, there has been a recent demand for more plus-sized models in the business, along with growth in other niches such as models with unique posture due to disability.

Actually, your body size and shape can help determine the signs you should be a model and the type of modeling you will fit best into because there are a lot of subdivisions under the larger modeling umbrella.

4. You are confident as a model

If you are not a shy person, but confident and self-possessed, then you have the signs you should be a model.

Most people think that having confidence as a model is all about looking pretty, but they don’t know that even the prettiest people fail to leave a mark in the absence of confidence.

Modeling agencies are recently far over the idea of just looking for models with pretty looks, they want a model that is convincing and this can never be done with a lack of confidence.

Brands are looking for someone who can confidently sell their products convincingly. And as a model, you need to have the confidence that you are the only person capable of delivering that role.

Aside from that, you need to have a confident posture. You have to possess a held high spirit which is a strong indicator of determination, and a positive mindset.

Standing, moving, or sitting in a lazy, drooping way could be a sign of poor habits, and lack of strength. However, there are always exceptions, but these are the most obvious signs you should be a model.

5. You always fit in any cloth you wear

If you are the type that always fits in any outfit you choose to put on, then you have the signs you should be a model.

You don’t need to have the gait of Naomi Campbell or the swagger of Tyson Beckford to fit perfectly in the clothing you wear. You need to understand your body type as well as your height while choosing what you wear.

If you have the ability to unconsciously choose clothes that are fitting to your body type, it’s one of the signs you should be a model.

This is because what brands are looking for in a model is one that can easily fit in their designer’s clothes to make the clothes more alluring and attractive to potential customers which will help them make more sales.

You can keep up with the latest clothing trends and styles, especially those that suit your looks.

6. You are photogenic

Does the camera love you? If you always look attractive in photographs with a single or few shots and with no effort, then you have the signs you should be a model.

This is a talent that you need to show the world as a model because even the pro models go blank when faced with a camera. They cannot think of any other style to pose other than the same old ‘smile it off’ kind of pose.

But God has given you the gift of being photogenic which makes you effortlessly perform this task and yet produce an outstanding result. Truly, it’s one of the biggest signs you should be a model.

No matter the kind of modeling you want to be part of, for you to represent your brand very well, you have to be photogenic. This is because they are looking for models who are immensely creative with how they pose in pictures.

While being photogenic might come naturally to a few people, it’s absolutely a skill you can practice and learn if you are looking to be a model.

7. You are unique

If everything about you is unique and appealing, then you have the signs you should be a model.

Do you have unique skin color, hair color, unique eyes or your whole body physique is unique? these are the thing that will make someone look at you and say “you should be a model”.

When you have a unique appearance, it will set you apart from other models and a lot of brands and agencies will be rushing to work with you just like the model Winnie Harlow who has a unique skin color due to vitiligo.

As an aspiring model, it is very important for you to feel effortlessly comfortable in your skin. Modeling agencies are not looking for another Winnie Harlow or Shaun Ross, they want someone new, someone unique, and someone fresh.

So the worst mistake you can do in your career as a model is trying to be like someone else. You have to be unique in everything you do and carry your own stance with grace while showing the agencies who you truly are.

8. You have a make-believe ability

Another way to know the signs you should be a model is when you have a make-believe ability.

Modeling is the world of money, fame, and glamour, and what many people don’t know is that modeling and acting both are co-related.

Modeling is the easiest way to appear in movies or music videos as an actor. That is why a lot of actors you see out there will tell you that they started off as models or they’re also models.

But the funny part is that an entry in only modeling is so hard especially if you don’t meet the right people and companies that will nurture you and make things easier for you.

That is why a lot of beginner and pro models work with Modelscout to make them easily discovered and placed in front of potential brands and model agencies.

9. You have the ability to get on well with people

Another way to know the signs you should be a model is when you have the ability to get on well with people. This is one of the qualities a lot of brands and model agencies are looking for in a model.

There’s a good chance that at some point in your modeling career you’ll have to sell to others the ideas, products, or services of the brands you represent. Having great communication skills and the ability to persuade other people will help you succeed as a commercial model.

If you intend to be a promotional or convention model, you need to possess an engaging personality and the ability to present yourself as a product spokesperson.

So when your friends see your ability to get on well with other people in addition to other signs, it will make them constantly remind you that “you should be a model”.

10. You have the interest to become a model

There are no better signs you should be a model than when you have the passion and interest to make modeling your chosen career.

Only the intention to become a model is the sign you should be a model. People who succeed in the modeling industry are always passionate about their careers. So never let the negative things people do or say to discourage you from pursuing your dreams.

But before you choose to be a model, you have to be ready and prepared for the things that come with it (both the ups and downs, as well as the good and bad that models experience).

The modeling industry needs people who possess a strong work ethic; this means understanding there are unusual lifestyles that are part of the job such as early starts, late finishes, and constant traveling,

Imagine seeing yourself modeling for New York or London Fashion Week. It may look like a dream come true, but for you to get to that high, you are expected to work extremely hard.

So preparation is the key, both in your mind and otherwise. It’s always easy to tell if someone’s not ready yet, so you have to be ready to follow your dreams at all costs and achieve your goals.

What caught my attention is when you said that you must consider becoming a model if people keep telling you that you have the signs and the guts to be a model. This is something that I will share with my 19-year-old niece because she has all the qualities to become a great model. Maybe, it will be best for her to attend modeling classes so she can have proper expectations when she enters the modeling industry.

I know of this young man at my bank every time I see him I think “model” why is this guy working on a bank? What would be the best avenue to ask him about modeling, could you maybe send me a business card of (a) local agencies to give to him?
